This is always a destination for us when in PT- menu is interesting and delicious and the staff is friendly and just the right amount of attentive. Can't wait to go back- every time.
Stopped by for dinner last night based on tripadvisor's recommendations. Wow. Incredible meal. We'll be back. Thanks, Stephen
Copying and pasting my Yelp review about my experience today for this place:The most racist service I have ever experienced in my life. I went in here with my husband and 3 members of my Indian American family. My mom asked for turkey to be added to her sandwich - it arrived with no turkey. After trying unsuccessfully to get the attention of the waiter, I walked up to the bar to let him know about the missing turkey and ask if a new sandwich could be made for my mom or if just some turkey could be sent out. He immediately said one of the dumbest, and most offensive things I have ever heard: instead of taking responsibility for his mistake and trying to fix it, he put the blame on my mom and said "There was a language barrier." I had to tell this bigot that my mother has been speaking - and teaching English - longer than he's been alive, and that any "barrier" was his alone. There was zero language or even accent barrier - he made a mistake and instead of owning up to it decided to blame US for being brown. I hope anyone with a conscience will not go to this restaurant until this idiot is fired. I will be calling to speak to a manager tomorrow to demand this happen.
I'm very sad to report that the way the owner of this restaurant has handled my complain to-date has been abysmal. I'll explain it shortly here but please do view the complete Facebook thread here: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Fountain-Cafe-Port-Townsend-132915143444312/reviews/).Update 1: The owner, Nicholas Yates, replied to my review with nasty ad hominem attacks about me personally, and also denying that the event ever happened in the first place (he was not in the cafe at the time), calling me a "liar."Update 2: I spoke with Mr. Yates on the phone shortly after his nasty response to me online and he continued to deny that what I experienced happened at all. When I pressed him on what his self-proclaimed "zero tolerance" policy for racism means when he can just deny anyone's experience with racism with no evidence, he hung up on me.Update 3: As of this writing, Mr. Yates is enlisting his friends and colleagues to personally attack me online with additional ad hominem attacks.
I will be discussing your negative feedback of this restaurant with the Indian Association of Western Washington (IAWW). The IAWW organizes a Camp every August in Port Townsend and several families look for places to eat when they are picking their kids up from camp. I am sure many of my friends will be aghast at this BS and will think twice before stepping in for lunch. I hope you receive a satisfactory response from the management.
Thank you for your support. Please view my update above regarding the progress (or lack thereof) to this issue. It has been the opposite of a satisfactory response. I do hope the IAWW will get involved and consider publicly denouncing this restaurant's behavior and also - possibly - Port Townsend for their future events, among any other actions available to them.
I love this place's food. Great chicken marsala and walnut gorgonzola penne!!! We are local and treat ourselves every other month - we usually call in and pick it up. Damn tasty food!
My husband and I celebrated our birthdays, (May 15 and 17) last night at the Fountain Cafe in Port Townsend. I love this restaurant and the presentation of the dishes and service. We had 2 of their hors d'oeuvres. The coconut prawns with a horseradish orange marmalade sauce and salad Also, we had baked brie with roasted garlic for hors d'oeuvres. The presentation was beautiful with a flower on the plate. Also there were fresh flowers on each table. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Dear Nick, The Halloween dinner and birthday party dinner that you put on for Sylvia's 80th was tremendous. The food was wonderful, your staff were efficient and helpful, and the atmosphere for the whole evening was one of relaxed joy. From the decorations to the the wine and dessert everything went just as we hoped it would. Many of the guests sent us cards and messages to tell us what a wonderful event it was,how delicious the food was, and how much they enjoyed themselves. The evening was a complete success. Thank you, your chef and staff again for a great job well done. With many thanks, Sylvia and Don White
This restaurant means so much to me and my partner. Since moving to the east coast, for special occasions, we try to recreate their amazing gorgonzola pasta with tomatoes and walnuts. Looking forward to our next trip. Seriously hope the restaurant survives with global pandemic!
Our meal at the Fountain was outstanding!!! The three of us couldn't keep our forks out of each other's plates! The Wild Mushroom Risotto was super delicious but my wife's Greek may have been better if that's possible! Table service was good and the the wine and champagne rounded out one of the best evenings we've had since Covid!Thank you so much!!Absolutely will return....again and again!
